Caniglia's Royal Boy Drive In

In 1953 Mister and Mrs. C (Maria) decided to leave the family business. On July 20th 1953 they purchased Marshall’s Drive-In from Max & Ruby June Marshall. It was a small Drive-in with car-hops and six stools behind the counter inside. A year later, they renamed Marshall’s to Caniglia’s Royal Boy Drive In. In 1957 Mister C added onto the Drive-In and also built two new indoor dining rooms. The place now had room for 19 people at the counter and 50 people in the dining room. The Drive-In section was eventually closed in 1970. One of Mister C’s first ventures to establish the restaurant as a Steak House was to purchase the Ak-Sar-Ben Grand Champion Steer. Restaurateurs would attend the yearly 4-H Ak-Sar-Ben auction to bid on the area’s finest beef. In 1988 Mister and Mrs. C built the Piazza Di Maria, an outdoor garden of beautiful fountains, lovely flowers, greenery and thousands of colored lights. It has become THE place for Weddings and Special Parties. Mister C's has evolved from humble beginnings into one of the largest independently owned family restaurants in the state.

Lights are everywhere at Mister C's

What’s with all the lights?

One Christmas, Mister C had decorated the restaurant with an abundance of holiday lights and ornaments. When it came time to take the decorations down, one of Mister C’s waitresses asked Mister C to please leave the lights up so her husband could see them when he returned from military duty in January. Her husband did return, in June !! Now by popular demand thousands of beautiful lights are part of the decor.
